AoS Advent #21: Together

pizza-is-my-buziness:

Honestly my goal is to do all of these this year. Also this isn’t holiday themed but…you can pretend.

“Shit.” The word is punctuated by the sound of something
-likely the body of a hardly surreptitious superhero- thudding into the closet
wall.

Jemma isn’t surprised by either of these things. It’s a very rare
day when she doesn’t have to be up as early as Daisy but it hardly matters. “Sleeping
in” isn’t something that happens much around Daisy, though sometimes Daisy’s ways
of waking her up are a lot more fun and creative.

“Are you okay?” Jemma asks obligingly, rolling over to check
the time on her phone. She’ll be getting into the lab early after all, it
seems.

Daisy emerges from Jemma’s closet, half dressed, still
straightening the legs of the pants that undoubtedly tripped her moments
earlier. “Have you seen my white button up?” She scowls. “I think it’s still at
my apartment.”

Over the past several months, Daisy’s things have been
steadily trickling into Jemma’s apartment, just like Jemma’s have been appearing
in Daisy’s drawers and in her closet. A few days ago, Jemma couldn’t find the
pair of heels she wanted to wear to her meeting with Shuri to discuss improving
SHIELD’s biochem division and they’d turned up later underneath Daisy’s bed.

Jemma sets her phone aside and looks at Daisy and the part of
her mind that isn’t currently glossing over at the sight of Daisy’s abs is
formulating what Jemma thinks is probably the best idea she’s ever had.

Which is saying something, because she’s had some pretty
great ideas throughout her life.

“We should just move in together,” Jemma says and Daisy
blinks at her, prompting her to add quickly, “So we don’t keep losing all our
stuff.”

Immediately, Jemma regrets adding that addendum. Moving in
with Daisy isn’t about a pair of heels under her bed, after all.

Daisy is still staring at her. “You want to move in together?
Because-”

“No, not because of our stuff,” Jemma corrects quickly. “Because
I love you and I’m tired of you having a place and me having a place and
whenever we aren’t together I don’t sleep and I want us to come home to the same
place.”

Daisy grins at her, climbing into bed beside Jemma once more.
Daisy threads her fingers through Jemma’s hair, tipping her head back. “I think
you’re a genius.”

“I’ve heard that-”

Jemma doesn’t get to finish because Daisy’s lips are on hers,
swallowing up the words and anything else Jemma might think to say. Not that
Jemma is going to complain.

She might not be getting to the lab early after all.

can we take a second to just talk about how far may has come from s1, when she would’ve rather sedated powered people first and ask questions later? she went from that to being a mother to an inhuman child with no control of her powers, a child no older than katya was at the time of her death.

i can’t help but think about how much that’s a reflection of may’s relationship with daisy, of how may’s learned to look past the enormity of inhuman powers because of her. because daisy was the first inhuman may ever had a connection to, the first inhuman she loved. daisy was the inhuman that forced may to reconcile bahrain with the urge to protect the girl they found in a van.

but may lost daisy before she even formed a connection with robin. once again, she couldn’t save the girl, no matter how hard she tried. it must have torn her heart in two to live through that.

yet somehow she still found it in herself to love robin and become a mother to her. despite everything she’d lost, she still became robin’s person and very clearly loved her more than anything.

and just like that it was ultimately may’s resilience that saved the world.

#do you think may ever looked at robin and remembered the day#that she stood in between sif and daisy #ready to die to protect her?

ouch??? @ my past self, why did you do this to yourself???
