jemmasimmonsy: Reasons to watch Agents of SHIELD↳ “Female friendship is a sacred, beautiful, wonderful, supportive thing, and to be able to portray that, it just raises the stakes somehow if you really care for each other and you’d do anything to save them.” – Elizabeth Henstridge [x]  Source: jemmasimmonsy

Daisy is back in with SHIELD and starts going on Inhuman scouting missions and getting them out of bad/questionable situations then one time Phil comes home early and finds Daisy at the dinner table with like 3-5 young Inhumans all eating pizza and he’s confused and Daisy is like “these are my children now, we’re going to feed and care for them” and he’s just like “okay” and starts panicking because he hasn’t made up any beds or done any grocery shopping.

But you know Coulson would be the chill parent. Like the kids who are cinnamon rolls would worry about burdening Actual Superhero Mom with their problems would go to Coulson, usually in charge of snacks and bad jokes, because they know he’s actually great at advice. And when Daisy asks why the kids didn’t come to her with he’d tell her that they didn’t want to bother her. “They take after you,” she’d tell Coulson, even though all the kids are adopted. “What? No, that’s totally you,” Coulson would reply.

And all the kids are obviously empathetic as hell so whenever Daisy goes on dangerous missions and Coulson is trying to act like everything is fine in front of them they can tell he’s freaking out inside and do really nice things for him because that’s how their household does things.

They would do the most ridiculous things to keep him distracted. “Help, Daisy, they dismantled Lola so we could fix her all together again.” “Pfft, that’s what you get for letting Mack and YoYo babysit. I’m alive and well, by the way, thanks.”

Okay but everyone in the lab pretending everything is hunky dory, that’s gonna all go to shit, right? Like we’re supposed to genuinely believe they’re all high-fiving and bonding and shit while over in Daisy’s plot she’s breaking her bones and telling someone she deserves to die?

It’s all downhill (well, uphill for some) from here folks and all this pent up angst is gonna blow up in like two episodes.

I didn’t see things at hunky-dory. Fitz was desperate for company, look at what happened between Simmons and May, Coulson and Mack are worn out, and they all were pretty much separate. I don’t we are meant to think this is a good situation that will get broken down, this is already broken, we start from the bottom, even if things are not super explosive they are bad.

Yeah, it’s pretty openly a bad situation. May and Shitz and Simmons all basically said, point blank, that they don’t trust the Director, so that’s not even being left open. (The acronym stuff was super creepy – SADIST? – while also hitting those terrible corporate notes? This show is really good at making creepy alt-SHIELD things?)

But besides Shitz and Simmons having the weight of Shitz’s Tony Stark meets Ex Machina plot, we saw the people themselves not doing so bad with each other?

I mean, we had a thing between May and Simmons, but I actually liked the way we left that scene a lot – the show let us in both their heads about it pretty much right away, and I thought it felt like it ended with mutual understanding. (May was happy to take that order at the end. Which isn’t to say there won’t be more headbutting, just that I think May and Simmons can think the best of each other.)

Coulson and Mack seem the most invested in pretending everything is okay, though, and I think the fact that they both have the closest relationships to Inhumans will make that an interesting plot as that falls apart. It’s really from them that I expect to see the most stuff in terms of things blowing up. Through this episode, it was people talking about how much Coulson wanted to find Daisy rather than us being shown that QUITE as clearly as in seasons past. (Though, ‘hey let’s insert ourselves, unsupported and ill equipt, into a dangerous weapons drop situation because maybe Daisy will show up???’ is *pretty* great.) And I’m kinda excited about what happens next, now that Coulson has been forbidden from chasing her.

Poor dear Daisy still believing she did something wrong (and therefore, at least a little, that she still doesn’t deserve the friendship of people who love her?).

So, upcoming ‘taking care of Daisy’ fics, right?

Actually i got a vibe from 2×01 where Coulson seemed to be doing fine but by next episode he was talking to doors.

Maybe you guys disagree but i liked that in this ep we only got second hand news about how desperate Coulson is for Daisy rather than see him be a human disaster. Because that focused Daisy being desperate for him a lot more to me and she was the human disaster. I’m sure Coulson will implode soon and he is just pushing stuff down but i don’t know, i really liked that we saw Daisy that raw about Coulson. Maybe it’s just me.

No, I agree, I really liked how they did it. The focus on Daisy was great, and I really like the veneer of “put together Coulson” who is *totally* gonna be talking to doors soon?

Also, given how much focus has been put before on showing us (again and again AND again) how much Coulson will do for her and how much he falls apart when she’s gone, it was nice to hear that from other characters. (I will never turn down other characters telling me about how much Coulson wants Daisy.) I’m also looking forward to seeing him fall apart, though – we didn’t get in his head much this episode, but that’s not a problem so much as an observation.

Daisy being full of feels and falling apart at classic cars was so perfect and lovely. They did a really good job giving us that without making her plot revolve around missing Coulson/the Team. (Which is what always happens with Coulson about missing Daisy, lol.)

Also the stress on how badly Daisy misses him and not just how much he misses her makes me wonder if Coulson is going to be in danger at some point and Daisy is going to freak out.

ALSO it’s very clever to prioritize showing Daisy’s feelings for Coulson rather than the other way around because if she keeps trying to keep people at an emotional distance even after she comes back to the team that will be great storytelling because she could be giving Coulson the cold shoulder in the future because she doesn’t want to get attached but the audience has already seen how important his friendship is to her and how much she cares about him.

I mean the set up is amazingly shippy in a way that’s totally different from other seasons and i predict great fic coming from this 😛
