‘Daisy is a Mary sue’
So is Steve Rogers and Tony Stark then. They’re litterally created to be ‘perfect’ where as Daisy has flaws and limitations
Steve got to become an SO over a women with YEARS of training over him just cuz his stage name was ‘Captain America’
He got to be team leader over another women with, again, years of experience in SHIELD over himTony Stark literally learns to be good at something in one night. Genius or not, it’s just not possible.
And while fandom isn’t calling out this bs, they’re calling Daisy the sexist term ‘Mary sue’???
Daisy Johnson, who doesn’t speak other languages like other spy’s (Melinda and Bobbie and Coulson)
Who is always learning to be a better agent, a better inhuman, a better team leader, while retaining the traits that got her into SHIELD and the abilities that got her noticed.Get the fuck off your high horses fandom
Daisy is not portrayed as ‘perfect’ and to say so while ignoring white male characters who ARE (in canon and in fandom) is such sexist and racist bullshit
Daisy Johnson is complex
She is skilled
She is flawed
And she is an amazing superhero with so much compassion and a desire to do what’s right no matter whatMary Sue is such a bs way of saying you hate her because she’s a female lead (and one who’s story doesn’t revolve around being shoved into a guys lap *cough* ac *cough*)
Steve Rogers is not a Gary Stu. At least, not any longer. He was in “The First Avenger”.
Skye or Daisy didn’t start off as a Mary Sue. She has certainly become one.
Omg… Seriously?
‘Steve’s not a Gary Stu’
First of all, what kind of crap ass name is that? Wholly sh**
Second of all LOL that’s horse shit
Cap 1: Steve is portrayed as a perfect man just wanting to do good and beat up the bad guys
Cap 2: Steve is put in a position of leadership over SHIELD agents with more training than him and who are older than him.
He also gets a scene where he rips into Nick Fury about being wrong in his way of protecting people. Scratch that, not one scene but MULTIPUL
He also gets to act like a piss baby when things don’t go his way and we’re supposed to agree with him for some stupid reason (shutting out Sharon for doing her job, being an arse to Nick cuz they disagree on how best to do the job instead of… Oh I don’t know, talking to the man who is much older than him and has a hell of a lot more experience than him)
Being snippy with Natasha for DOING THE JOB SHE WAS GIVEN
Cap 3: literally revolves around him and Tony getting to decide for everyone else what happens and drops out three women and two black men (while placing the third black man in the background of the fight) in favour of piss match between Steve, Tony and Bucky in which we are given a clear perspective that we’re supposed to believe Steve is Right and Tony is wrong (I mean, Tony is wrong. He’s wrong from start to finish but that doesn’t make Steve 100% right)Daisy Johnson:
Season one: brand new to SHIELD, make’s mistakes, almost dies and is growing
Season two: trained by Melinda May. A much more skilled SHIELD agent but still reckless in some cases (going after her dad when Raina was trying to make a deal with Coulson for example). Also freaks when she gets powers and is super afraid of herself but slowly gains her confidence back.
We also see more of her past abuse in which she has learn to believe that if she fucks up once she’ll be ditched and forgotten. To the point that even knowing the truth of her past (being unable to stay in one place for long) she STILL thinks fucking up once will get her kicked out of SHIELD or afterlifeSeason 3: becomes a leader of a team she builds with Mack’s help because Coulson know’s she’s good with people and she has learned to lead from Melinda and Coulson and as an Inhuman unlike them, she is more qualified to lead other inhuman a just learning to deal with their powers (like Joey)
Is NOT always right. I will forever stand by the fact that even though Lincoln could be an ass, his side of the argument (medical/diseas) had weight to it and both his and Daisy’s point of view on I humans and a cure needed to work together to meet in the middle
We see her fuck up. We see her struggling to hack, being piss poor with languages, getting help from Melinda and Bobbi, breaking down, and strugglingDaisy Johnson is NOT a Mary Sue
That is a piss poor way of saying you hate where her character action goes
You are NOT always supposed to 100% agree with her (you can hold different opinions while recognizing she IS a hero and IS trying to protect people)
She is NOT always in the legal right (though she is always morally right because Daisy is a kind hearted women who wants to protect people)
She literally loses control of herself this season and has to deal with it next season
She struggles to learn new skills in order to become a better leader and agentShe is 28 years old
She is growing and learning and becoming better every day and we get to see that
And to dismiss it as her being a ‘Mary sue’ is a cheap way of saying ‘whaaa she’s the centre of attention and I don’t like it’
melissa-benoist: Her story started here. Her whole life she thought she wasn’t wanted, that she didn’t belong. That every family that took her in didn’t want her to stay, didn’t care. But all that time it was S.H.I. E.L.D. protecting her, looking after her. That’s what she took away from the story. Not the family […]
