Do You Guys Know How Big It Is For Korra To Be In A Relationship With Asami

Asami’s her only sense of established normalcy. While the world rages on around her, and constantly changes, Asami will be the only thing that remains normal, and constant, to her. She is a fixed presence; a never-leaving entity.

Not only did Korra find peace within herself, she also built herself back up from the ground enough to find peace in another. Extend that peace to another. Asami is her sense of peace. A peace where you don’t have to pretend, or fight, or dictate, or worry. All you have to do is be yourself, and you’ll be accepted.

Do you know how big that is for Korra? Do you know how long it took her to do that for herself? It took her YEARS to be able to finally accept HERSELF, in her own body, and even that can be rickety sometimes. Now, she has an outward, tangible thing to find peace in, and that thing is Asami.

And Asami is indeed, peaceful. She’s calm. Collected. Dignified and poised. But beyond that, she is Korra’s comforting hand, the hand that soothes her back and nestles her right to sleep. She is the arms that hold her as her world is collapsing around her, and envelopes her in a world that is their own. She comforts her, telling her that things are okay, and indeed, with her around, they will be.

Asami is literally Korra’s sense of peace, because she does not have to expend any energy or effort being someone else other than what she is.

And that,

That is so, so POWERFUL.

Very nicely said!

We do see in Turf wars that Korra does say that no one in her life “got her” the way that Asami did. Asami will forever remain an important presence in her life and one that she can always turn to for advice, comfort and happiness.

I don’t think some people give Asami enough credit for her importance as an individual as well as a partner for Korra. Asami had been supportive of Korra since the day she met her – stating how lovely it was to met her, how fantastic she was at pro-bending, how amazing she was as an Avatar and how she deserved to take the time she needed to recuperate. Your point truly does stand in stating that Asami was a fixed presence, a never-leaving entity.

Her support and devotion remained unwavering even through some massive turmoils. Despite Korra’s initial temperament towards Asami, the whole love triangle mess, Korra’s accusation towards Hiroshi’s involvement with equalists (which was obviously a true claim) as well as Korra’s downfall and absence for three years, Asami never once left Korra’s side or belittled her. She remained the comforting presence that Korra needed in her life. After everything that Asami had been through throughout her entire life, she could have easily removed herself from Team Avatar and held a massive grudge. Though, if there is one thing we learned, it’s that while people leave Asami Sato, she will never leave them. She will always persist.

She was, and will always be, Korra’s rock. The two of them have been through hell and back and their turmoils are what help make them so in-sync and so understanding of each other.  Despite their flaws and past mistakes, they will always be perfect for each other.

Keep up these awesome musings! I love reading them all ❤

“Despite their flaws and past mistakes, they will always be perfect for each other.” I think, because they HAVE their flaws and mistakes, that’s why they’re perfect for each other.

Accepting each other for their mistakes, despite their vulnerabilities and weaknesses, is so, so important for loving each other. You have to see past the bad, and appreciate what is there, and I am so, so thankful that Asami has done that for Korra. It’s only when you see someone’s true self, that you can truly love them.

No secrets, no hiding. Just, them.

Yup, I Totally agree!

They are imperfectly perfect for each other and that’s what draws them so close to each other! Mistakes and faults are what help to make you grow and learn after all. They’ve see each other through some of their darkest times and I’m sure they will be faced with even more obstacles in their future. But, we do know they’ll always be stronger together and stare down any challenge heading their way!

They are each other other’s priority.

Just the two of them ❤

This is another excellent post and analysis. Unfortunately, as I have said before, no matter how good it is, this will not reach many (hardcore) m/akorra shippers. They are still feeling injured, insulted, and betrayed, and nothing will convince them of the opposite.

KORRASAMI FTW SPREAD THIS AROUND AGAIN!!!! ❤

Need to rewarch & reread ASAP!!!

kataracy:

me: as much as i liked Legend of Korra i think its fair to say the writing had some structural problems and a few characterization hiccups but overall it was a good show

some jackass: Legend of Korra was terrible, Korra was a (grab bag of gendered slurs) and her being gay was stupid and out of nowhere

me: Legend of Korra is the greatest animated series of all time actually, it has no flaws whatsoever
