“Good morning, Johnson and Coulson,
Infernal Investigators. No spooky job too big or small. How may I help
you?”(The opening to my Halloween AU – which I may not actually get finished by Monday since I’ve got a shitty 4.5+ hour shift to get through today.)
Well fuck you Tumblr!
Couldn’t work out why this hadn’t got any notes, until I discovered Tumblr had eaten most of the post. (Note to self, check your post before you sign out
(and go get a flu jab). So, let’s try this again, shall we…
“Good morning, Johnson and Coulson, Infernal
Investigators. No spooky job too big or small. How may I help you?”Phil Coulson, the junior partner in the firm, looked over at
his boss as she listened to whoever was on the other end of the line.“No madam, I am not the secretary, I am the senior
partner. Madam, I assure you I am neither too young, nor too inexperienced to
run – ” Daisy Johnson cut herself off, rolled her eyes, then held out the
phone to Phil.He rolled his eyes in turn, then leaned across their desks
to take the receiver from her. “Good morning, madam. My name is Phil
Coulson. How can we help you?”He listened attentively, jotting down notes in his
reporter’s notebook as the woman spoke, then finally passed the handset back
across the desk. “Sorry, boss.”Daisy took the phone from him. “Hardly your fault,
Phil,” she said, but he could tell she was still a bit annoyed. Not that
he blamed her – being constantly disbelieved as to her role in the organisation
she’d started in a back room 5 years ago, not to mention being dismissed for
being (1) young, (2) half Asian, and/or (3) female more than grated on Daisy’s
nerves and it was a testament to her character that she hadn’t lost her temper
half as often as she had a right to.“What’s the job?” she asked, cutting across his
reverie with a slightly impatient tone. He passed her his notebook, and she
scanned his notes, then nodded. “Is an hour long enough for you to get
home, pack a bag, and get to the station?” she asked, and he nodded in
turn.“Yeah, boss, I can do that.”
“Good. I’ll see you there in an hour.“
This is drool-inducing!!! Can’t wait to read!! All the inspiration!!!! Have fun with this and good luck with the shift!!!
Thank you… Inspiration (and plot) I have, it’s having the mental energy to actually write that’ll be the issue.
(The shift was 5.5 hours long because my boss is a total asshole who pretends to care about my semi-crippled knee – but thinks nothing of making me work an extra hour (or more) knowing it’s bloody agony to be on my feet more than an hour.)
Oh, wow….. please get better and fuck your boss! Rest up!!
