#I loved how much they emphasized that when Kara dressed and acted in a way that didn’t purposefully push herself into the background#that when Kara dressed and acted with the utmost confidence and even ego#that people couldn’t take their eyes off her#she was noticed everywhere she went#she’s fucking magnetic#so when she lashes out at Alex about her wardrobe#it makes sense#because the way she was dressed before was on purpose#it was to keep her out of the spotlight#to keep people from watching her all the time#to help her blend into the background#so when RK Kara broke out of that#everyone took notice#and for someone with secrets like Kara#being noticed is a dangerous thing#also Melissa looks super hot (@karatam)
her makeup, and hair are for the most part the same. It’s literally just a change in clothes and a confident strut and all of a sudden it has the same effect as if she’s become a lodestone in a pile of metal shavings
#it’s actually such a testament to the physicality of Melissa’s work this season#we’ve all picked up on it in fic#how she holds herself differently as Kara and as Supergirl#then as J’onn as Supergirl#then as J’onn as Kara#Kara Danvers has perfected the pretty wallflower thing#but red!k Kara is a revelation#she looks four inches taller#she dominates the room#even in crowded scenes#with much taller and broader actors#the other person on the show who does that is Calista#who’s doing a quiet masterpiece in physical acting choices#so it’s only fitting that so much of Red!K kara’s physical presence#should be modelled on Cat Grant#the bored tone too#but don’t get me started on voice work (@damelola)
