Out of the two of them, Claire very much recognizes Alice has the most to lose which is why she often tries to self sacrifice.

Claire while, is the definition of surviving Humanity, Alice IS humanity.

Claire knows how hard the world is. Her brother raised her. She’s seen some shit. It’s so draining. But she’s never seen it drain so much out of someone like it does to Alice but she’s also never see someone fight so hard with almost nothing like Alice does.

Claire knows she has people counting on her. But she knows towards the end of TFC Alice, while the world is resting on her shoulders, only has one person left she truly cares about. And it’s her. Claire has Alice but she has survivors. Reasons to keep her head high.

No one compares to Alice. Not because she’s dependent but because there’s a bond, inexplicable, strong bond she grips onto. It’s a last thread to actual people for Alice. Something she feels so strongly.

So yes. Alice self sacrifices. She’d do it again and again and again if Claire got to live. Without a second thought. Alice doesn’t have many people and arguably Claire understands her the best. Because of this, Claire is so soft with Alice. So… tender, loving, and unmoving. Resolute to make sure she knows she’s not alone.

And it’s also why Alice gets smacked Everytime she offers a “oh btw it could kill me” plan and can never change Claire’s mind when she refuses to let her go through with said plan.

“I see why Chris was scared of you. That hurt. Wait! It’s a good plan! Claire come back! What if-”

“NO.”
